Oh the things you will find

Today the footer is being dug and poured for the new pond, and of course the things you find are great. So far its been a tire and a hot water heater. Any odd things you have found?

Please post pics as you go along. I'm going to be doing the same thing in 2 months and would love to see the progress.

How deep are your footers and what size rebar are you using? 8" or 12" centers?

My son crushed a Bronco with our dozer and buried it in our yard. I have no idea where it is so there's no telling what I'm going to find when we start digging.

Attached is a before picture from the last build. This will take you to some after pics of the last build.. http://www.koi-bito.com/forum/attach..._6924799_n.jpg

Later today I will upload a pic of the footer poured. Adding 2ft in one direction on this one. Footer is 8 inches and with size 6 rebar. I am only doing 2 ft of block on this with the rest of the pond under ground and with the liner. Block will be the standard 8*8*16. Just hoping as i go down I do not run into more junk.

With the foundation drying, the day is over for now. Tomorrow is the block. Then we will back fill over the footer on the outside edge and start digging out the interior more. Attached are a couple pics of today and my koi pool.

Where is the skimmer(s)? Suggestion: radius or 45 the inside of those corners to prevent dead spots.

I am not installing one really. I will pipe for a DIY skimmer in a corner and just dryfit a cap on the interior and then glue in a valve and cap on the exterior for when I get to upgrading filtration. Baby steps here. This is a hobby, but the kids college funds take a priority over it.
