Eugene - Yes, it really sucks! She was not an outside dog - she lived inside - had her own single bed in my bedroom room which she shared with her boyfriend (he is now a 12 year old German Shepherd, so he is getting on now too.....) - he is sooooo lonely without her. When I go out and come home - he runs to the car and looks into all the windows to she where his girlfriend is! I am spending a lot of time with him trying to get him to accept that he is now an only dog and that he must take the head of the house now - she was always the head dog and kept him in line!!!! He is a big poofte - a real baby, but what a massive heart he has! I had such a "love" relationship with these two - they have looked after me and protected me for all these years - and it seems so strange not to have Chamonoix around. Anyway, time is always a great healer and at least she is not in any pain or suffering any more! Thanks for your kind words - it is hard to say good-bye to our loved ones!

Papa Bear - you asked about the pH of the borehole - yes you are absolutely correct - 7.1 at first and then settles around 7.6. So I am really lucky!

A pond as deep as mine will fill and be gone in a hundresd years or if it was shallow it would need dredging within ten years especially in colder climates and type of clay . This pond is in my garden so a dredger would do a great deal of damage . The only problem is that I need to use a 1/3 HP compressor for arriation but depth has a lot of advantages .
Regards
Eugene
