Thread: Blue barrels

    Those 55-gallon blue barrels are awesome for DIY filter setups. I see them advertised for free, or at least very cheap in the local GreenSheet all the time. There's also a plastic recycling center nearby which sells them for $10 each. I've got a total of 11 of these barrels hidden behind my shed right now and will undoubtedly add at least three more when I build the DIY filter setup for my grow-out pond this spring...

    This is our 3 barrel system (barrel on the left is seperate - and not longer there)

    4" pipe from barrel to barrel, end barrel has static K1 and 2' outlet to a 27570SQL11. Been running 2 years straight, handles a pretty good load of fish
