Pond redo is DONE!

Heres a few pictures of our pond upgrade. It came in smaller than we liked, but we have a awful yard for a koi pond. All in all I am very happy with the finished product.

Looks Great

I think it looks great. How many gallons is it? The only thing I would worry about and suggest trying to do is to grind down the sharp edges on the rock that over hangs the edges of the pond. It could be something your Koi could hit.

Looks great!

It looks really beautiful. Where is the filter pit in relation to the rest? Do you have a good vantage point for a pic that includes everything?

Congratulations!

The pond is about 4000 gallons. It was the best we could do in our yard.
I`m aware of the problem with the rocks. We`ll do what we can in the Spring.Hopefully we can make it koi friendly.
skday...heres a pic showing the filter pit.We are building decking on top and a pergola.

You did good. Whats the depth? Does it have air drains? One drain or two?

Hi Mike,
I have two aerated bottom drains. The pond depth is 3 1/2 feet to 5 feet. We would have gone deeper but the labor cost involved to move and install a completely concrete pond was prohibitive. So we have a concrete collar and a block wall one the filter pit side.

Gene Winstead of Koi Village built these for me. Each bottom drain feeds one set of filters and the water is returned via a TPR.I also have a return from the skimmer to the waterfall that has been teed with another midlevel return.
The first filter chamber is a static prefilter. The best thing about that is how well it settles debri.I was amazed this week how much was in the bottom. The second chamber is biological filtration.

Very nice looking set up, simple but very effective. Is the 2nd bio chamber a fluid bed or static?
