How do I raise my skimmer

I built my pond a few months ago. I wish that I had put the skimmer higher, so that my water level could be about 8 inches higher. Is there any easy way to do this. Would I have to drain the pond? Also, not sure that my liner would stretch when pulling it up, but probably would.

Could I just lift it and pour concrete under it? Or maybe concrete patio blocks?

thanks for the suggestions.

Crystal,
Could you post some pictures. Also some info on how big is your pond, depth, etc.

Hi
My pond is about 9 X 12 ft. It is 3 ft deep and shelves on 2 sides. It has a 3ft or so waterfall. Compact skimmer filter with UV light and an Atlantic Filterfall. I'm trying to post some pics, hope they come through. I'll keep trying.

This is a picture of the pond going in, the skimmer is to the right. Now, don't ya all laugh. I did it myself, dug the hole with a shovel in 98 degree heat. I had a book and a video to go by. I tried to figure out how to do it by looking at the pond stores pond. It's small - the next one will, of course, be bigger. That will be next summer's project. LOL

More pics. I want to get the skimmer up to where I can make the water just below ground level.

It looks like you have quite a bit of excess liner under the skimmer, so I don't see why you couldn't raise it up. Put blocks under it to hold it in new place. Don't streatch the liner much...it will give some but streatching it will also weaken it.

Now....can I give you some advise? Get those rocks out of the pond. They are absolutly the worse thing you can do for your fish. Rocks trap all the fish poo and uneaten food where it rots and turns into the nastiest sludge you ever saw. that sludge can provide breeding grounds for harmful bacteria and parasites. I don't care what the watergardening books say.....rocks are VERY harmful for any fish. They look nice in a watergarden, but they have no place in a fish pond. Your pond is very pretty, but also very small. Removing the rocks will give your fish more room too. Don't put any koi in there....it's way too small for them. Stick with goldies.

Hello Crystal & Welcome to 'Bito . . .

Nice starter pond but listen to Cindy (Carolina Girl) and save yourself a lot of grief until you can build a bigger pond next year.

Use this one to learn and practice the basics with GF, shubbies, etc.
