Above-ground ponds completed!

This weekend I finally got around to finishing the second above-ground Koi holding/sale pond in my backyard. I had some leftover paint laying around so I went ahead and painted both ponds as well. These ponds will be used for planned spawnings next spring and as temporary holding/sale ponds in the future...

I thought about doing just that, unfortunately, my artistic talents aren't what they used to be...

just cut out a few koi prints on some paper and then spray paint!

fill in the eye and some marking should be easy or just go with yellow white red black solid colors.

they will have to be all doitsu with limited art skill.

Can you give us more details on the DIY filters you have running on your above ground ponds. I certainly like yellow and black!

I just installed an EasyPod on a pond similar to the ones you have there. The EasyPod was quick and easy to install and is super easy to clean.

The EasyPod is rated for a 2500 gallon pond. Of course that is subject to stocking rates, temperature, whether or not you are raising male koi or female koi among MANY other things. The EasyPod has a 30 measurement of K1 inside the filter as a static media. What is your DIY in comparison to BIOLOAD? Please Advise.

These filters aren't fancy, but they were very simple to make and they work. These are up-flow filters, and each is filled with matala, commercial pond filter pads, bio-balls, and other media I had laying around. I saw a similar setup at one of the local koi farms I visit from time to time. I'm not sure what bio-load this filter can handle, but it should do the job for the 1,000-gallon holding/sale ponds I've constructed -- provided I don't overstock, overfeed, and am dilligent about water changes, etc...

Maybe cut out a stencil, and then spray paint. That would be cool.
