Help W\ 2 Tanks And 1 Pump

Am setting up 2 side by side above ground tanks but only want to run one pump and filtration for the pair. All plumbing will be over the side.
Tanks will be similar to 10' round show tanks.
What say you OH magnanimus construction and filtration GURU'S

Two over the side siphon feeds to pumps? You crazy, Boy! Gravity feed out of the bottoms and it is really no biggy. Add skimmer/overflows to keep the water level questions out of the concerns.

My 1000 gal holding tanks are in pairs, what ever you do you have to have a separate balance line between them or believe me, the day will come when something will happen and one will get pumped empty and the other will overflow..
On mine, I take a 2" bottom drain from each tank, then to a Sure Pro 3500 pump, than to two sand/gravel filters in parallel, one going to each tank.

If I had to run two tanks with one pump and one filter and gravity feeding from the bottom was not an option, I would think about using one of those crappy 2" tetra bottom drains that sit on the bottom. Run the 2" line from each of those drains to a tee and then the single line to a pump. Make sure you valve each line to regulate flow from each. Then set the filter up higher and gravity flow it back to the two ponds. the only really tricky part is that the gravity flow lines must be identical or one tank will over fill. It's going to be a balancing act, that's for sure!! Are you sure you can't run some plumbing thru the wall....at least to insure water level balance between the tanks.

Yes, it's what I'll have to do. Am using two 10 foot show tanks but am sure there must be a way to attach bulkhead fittings to the side. You coming to CFKS this year?

Hey....have you though about trying Air lift on this system and using no pump?? AMAZING concept. I may do my new 20,000 gal pond this way. I am going to change my 1300 gallon tank to air lift and see how I like it.

I have put 2" shower drain fittings in my POP tanks before.

Yes, these are we refer to as basic venturi lifts. We have used these for many years in the treasure diving bussines. We pull sand off of the bottom through a massive 6 inch alluminum pipe some 15 to 20 foot in length. We move massive amounts of sand with this device so moving only water should be a snap. I can see some pretty cool applications here. Youve definitly got my mind a churnin on that one.
