    Good Return pumps

    Hi all,

I know the return pump should turnover the entire pond volume at least once per hour. So what brands are good? Going to buy one later.

This is a good guideline, but depending on the size of the pond, not necessarily true. Larger ponds, say 10,000 or more gallons can be handled with a turnover of every 1 1/2 hours and still do quite well.

How large is your pond going to be, or have you already built it? Can you tell us a little (or a lot) about your plumbing and filtration system plans?

    Hi mike,

My pond is about 2000liters, filtration system is a SUMP chamber filter system. The return pipe distance is about 4m. I saw a few pumps rated for about 7,000l/h. Any brands that i should be looking out for?

Where in the world are you located. Utilizing the metric system I would guess Canada or G.B.? I don't know if they utilize any of the same brands as electrical standards are different.

Koiczar brings up a good point about your location and what pumps are available to you, but having said that I'm a big fan of Sequence brand pumps. I operate a pair of the 1/2 horse models, and they are so quiet you must stand directly over them to be sure they're running. I also like the way they back up their product. Upon installation we found one to be making a bit more noise than it should, it was returned to the manufacturer and we received the replacement PROMPTLY, no questions asked. Other members of my local koi club swear by them as well, and I must defer to their recommendations as they have a heck of a lot more 'ponding experience' than I do.

I like and use Sequence pumps - tough, reliable and economical.
