    Pond Rebuild

    And so it begins..

This project has been in the works and drawing boards for a couple of years now and finally its at the "get er done" stage after a few modifications, changes and add's! I'm excited to see it finally in the "build" stage!

Here's my original "finished" idea, minus the waterfall and filtration:

Steve aka Birdman did the layout of pipes, bottom drains, settling tank & bio chambers etc:

Here's what it used to be:

We had it dug on out to 35 x 17 by 3. The pond when its finished in itself will be inside dimensions of 12 x 24 x 5".

Steve and our Master Supervisor Brandy "Boo Bear" Chow Chow

Caught the assistent supervisor Nick the dude dog laying down on the job, got to dock his doggy cookies if he keeps this up!

    Steve & DH...

The son got home from work so we tossed him in the pond, now if it had only been full and running.. (insert evil grin here>

    12 hours later:

Another 2 1/2 hours the next morning and all the rebar was in! The guy's made good time!

So, your project is finally taking on a "visual" shape/form. Glad to hear it. I remember talking to you about it during the Portland show in 2006. Glad to see you have Steve working on it too. Now you're assured of a quality built
pond. Keep us update as it progresses.

    Hi Mike!

Yes, its finally happening and I'm happy though anxious to see it done!

Wish I could have made the Portland show this year. Just wasn't in the cards again! Maybe next year will be clear for me to go and *cough* scope out some new fish. Hoping the DH will get to tag along next time, he likes seeing the big fish..

The guy's got the date wrong, they said Monday the 23rd.. Monday is the 25th... LOL! No sense in getting up early though, the pumper truck is scheduled in for 1 pm to pour it. But we have a early delivery of 3 pallets of split face blocks coming in. Steve figured we where 3 pallets of block short so suggested using the split face for the upper above ground area. Good idea as I can actually use the retainers in other areas... I had plans to do some gardens and such nots anyway so now I already have the retainers on hand! Now we are moving the other blocks over to the pond area so its closer to hand off..

We also had to get a load of loam in to help. This soil here is lots of clay and harder then a brick.. So we touched up around the forms and in the forms to level and wet that down to settle and its ready. But go figure, it rained for two day's....
