just wanted to share ... how a matsuba started out plain and then getting the matsuba scales in just 2 months.

note: sizes do not include the tail

I love these pics I would have though that the koi was a yamabuki Ogon from the first pic untill I had a good look at the next..Is this the way all the Matsuba start out. Thanks I have learned something I did not know, the scales that are coming in are very black, will they lighten up as the koi grows or will the sumi stay that bold?

yeah, at first i thought it was an ugly yamabuki ...

its my first time to have a matsuba koi, so i wouldnt know if they all start out like that.

my water seems to have a good effect on "black" markings

LOL, nice humping flys in the 2nd picture.

That koi looks like shes full of eggs. Being that small, with that size of a belly, I would wonder if that fish was older and stunted.

This I already know Luke. Remember, I have been breeding koi for 6 years now. I can tell by looking at the first picture that there was development yet to come.

Here is one I knew had some potential, saved it....
