    AKCA Koi Of The Year...

Was anyone at the AKCA seminar? Wanted to know who won Koi of the Year.

They did it differently this year. All the AKCA winners were stretched across a table, however, there was no voting and no fish was declared the winner. They are doing the Champion of Champions, much the same way with a panel of judges making the selection. I guess they'll still have all the fish photos in the AKCA magazine. Yes, I was there.

I was told that Kim & Vaughn Monies, size 4 Gin Rin Ogata Showa, that won at the San Diego koi show won Champion of Champions. This showa is very nice, they purchased it from Tom at Champion last November. I hope this information is accurate, they are a great couple and excellent hobbiest. They deserve to win, they have a wonderful collection of koi.

The Showa looked very good in the picture. There were (I think) 3 other worthy "competitors", but in the end, the girth, finish, shiro, and picture quality (that showed off those qualities) won her the day.

    Very Nice koi.

they changed the AKCA koi of the year competition, due to the pressure of getting so many Digital pix now. Since Photo shop is a beautiful thang, no voting. IMO, the AKCA koi that were there in the pictures, were the best I have seen.

I thought you could not submit a Grand Champion for the AKCA Koi of the Year?

That is correct, they are two different competitions, with two different sets of competitors....
