Namaste Greetings from India Im kicked to have found this forum. Sadly no one in India seems to be into rearing good quality Koi. All the Koi we get here are basic pond types.I finally managed to get hold of some juvenile Kohakus (4-6 inches) from an importer ad that too im sure are not going to win any awards. Well its a start for me. Would love to hear from the experts out here. regards Philip

India This is the sad story of the ornamental fish industry in India. Hardly any good quality fish are traded. The market is for cheap fish. We dont even get any good quality goldfish here. Nowadays with some relxation of imports from time to time you come across some decent arowanas and flower horns. But sadly no one seems to realise the beauty of good Koi. Like i mentioned in my earlier post all the koi we get here are the orange and black ones. Dont ever see Koi with Hi on them. Is there a term for these low grade Koi? As im new to this myself can some one explain to me how to distinguish between a sanke and a showa? Thanks

Hi Namaste, I would try posting your question on how to differentiate btwn a sanke and showa in the Main Forum section of this forum. You will definitely get a lot of responses there. Also, you might want to try our search engine as I am sure that this topic has been dissected many times in the past and that you will many useful posts. Good luck and enjoy your stay here at Koi-Bito! If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask away!
