  • Amazing Koi Farm

This past weekend we went to Raleigh. We had heard about a place called East Coast Koi Imports close to Raleigh, NC so we decided we would go on our way back to GA. We googled this place and decided to call up the owner Bobby Wang. It's about 20 minutes from Raleigh and as soon as we arrived Bobby greeted us and showed us his front pond. His pond has about twenty 30-34 inch beautiful koi mostly gosanke. Soon he showed us to the backyard to a pool of beautiful 6-15 inch koi. They had been hand picked from Japan and grown in Bobby's mudpond for 1 year. They were absolutely gorgeous. He continued to show us more pools of koi and more. Then we went down to his converted horse stable where each stall was a pool of beautiful koi. We saw more and more beautiful koi. Ranging from 6 inches to about 34 inches. I finally asked how many koi he has for sale and he responded quickly saying, "about 1,500" Then he showed us his mudponds but we really couldn't see any fish because it was too cold and they were at the bottom. We told him what varieties we were interested in and he netted about 5 or 6 of each type we were looking for and put them in a bowl for us. After we were all done buying the fish he put them in our car for us and before we could leave he told us to wait and ran inside. He came back out with a cooler and gave us some waters and cokes for the road.

Bobby Wang builds all of his koi ponds himself. He even makes his own filters. Every year he goes to Japan and hand selects koi from very well known breeders. His koi were of the highest quality and excellent prices. I suggest you go to his place. Heres his web page.

Well, if you can't make it to Raleigh.... Bobby will be at the Central Florida Koi Show in Orlando in March. East Coast Koi Imports is making its first appearance at the show as one of our Platinum Sponsors. They will be in the center of the atrium vendor fair. They have not been able to be fit in before, but a couple of our regular koi dealers were slow to reserve last Fall and their spots were quickly grabbed by dealers who have been wait-listed in past years.
