  • Word of the day " Matsuba"

Ok Ok we know its those friendly that come up for food anytime. But what is the history of this word...???

To me, matsubu is to koi as nebari is to bonsai. The 'pine-cone' pattern can clearly define the basic foundation of a fine koi.

Gary, Good to see you posting here!

the word matsu appears in many words because of the importance that pine plays in the culture. Matsu (kawabake) comes to mind as well, altho in that case
the location of where the koi originated was noted and note the discriptive color variety!

Thank you, interesting enough, you found the link Matsu (pine), I was warm with the mention of nebari, the exposed root system of an ancient tree or pine.
