Really nice Shiro, Omosako? Nice "Porcelin White"....very striking!!! Great conformation thick tail joint. WOW!!!

I thought the breeder was Tamura, but never heard of them?

Well looks like Omosako, but anyways it is very clean. Clean Shiroji as a back drop is always good.

The body is the strong point. Unusual to see such strength in the back half. The Shiro is wonderful, though I'm wondering if there is some photographic magic involved. The Sumi appears to be lacquer. So far, everything I'd want in a Shiro Utsuri .... then, the pattern: not to my taste. Oh well, I couldn't afford anything that had everthing the way I'd like it.

Your Shiro Utsuri has Presence and Impact

                      Very idealised Tamura Shiro Utsuri!
Callum congratulation to be the proud owner.
Shiroji. Pattern. Motoguro. Conformation. All things perfect.
This should serve 'How to choose a Shiro well'!

Funny, how many people recognized the name of the breeder of this koi. mention Omosako and people are all over it. The ultimate challenge of any koi keeper is to be able to identify a good koi when they see one.

I like the pattern and skin on this koi. Pretty face!

Tamura is based in Hiroshima area and produces some very nice fish.

Unfortunately thats the power of good marketing. Callums shiiro is beautiful. A Japanese ZNA judge had said that when judging Shiros, The 1st thing he looks fo is the Shiroji, then the Sumi and then pattern. SO this koi has my vote as well.

                              Choosing a good Shiro Utsuri

                              To hwong:
Omosako good marketing power, undeniable. Quality speaks to live that!
hwong, you had encounters with Japanese ZNA judge on Shiros!
To look for Shiroji: snowy clean skin?
then the Sumi: deep ebony lacquered black?
                              then the pattern: interesting ones?
For all the three pointers stated, care to elaborate?
You definitely sound you have solid background and rich experiences!
Do share with more details. Madison BK.
