    The foam at the shower had frozrn this morning. Pond water is 55F. We usually don't see something like that in ATL until after New Year. May have to put the cover on the pond early this year.
    Koi keeping is not a belief system; it is applied science with a touch of artistry.

      LOL.... No freezing here. We had a record hot October with most days 90F or above. The frigid cold affecting so much of the country is a very welcome 'cool front' here. With nighttime lows in the 60s, my pond is finally in the mid-70s. The shower helps lower the pond water temperature during the cool season. Unfortunately, also warms it up when in the 90s. Climate is a real consideration when dealing with filtration.

      ....The koi are ravenous after a far too long hot summer. All the usual thinking about winter feeding, etc. is out the window. The past three years it has been more like reduced rations in summer & heavier feeding in winter. It's all backwards.
