  • Oh, The weather outside is frightful

One hour it's in the teens and the next day snow is melting and it's back raining. It creates havic on trying to keep fish or bonsai safe and healthy.
So in order to keep my wits together, I decided to do what I could outside, but inside I would have
    conditions under control.
My tokonoma inside the house (display alcove) is featuring a koi scroll of summer time appearance, along with an ikebana display bowl stuffed with bulbs being forced. ( they should bloom about Christmas) This goes against all the rules of proper display, but a guy (or gal) has to do what they can to contribute.
atleast inside, it's now delightful...Happy holidaze everyone, With a special thank-you for Brian and his start of this chatline, and to Mike M who keeps the thing rollin.....

Round here it is nice weather. Last two days I've been scouting for bald cypress to harvest for bonsai. Didn't find any after two scouts- all too big. Found some short needle pines too, but none to collect. I did get some cones and will work on saplings. This is the time of year that is nice for scouting yamadori- the leaves are falling and the cyprss stand out amongst the dead shrubbery. Plus no snakes.

Edit: I'll be scouting and maybe some root cutting, but will wait til February to collect.
