All good points Mike. Sorry I missed CFK&GS this year- just wasn't in the cards. :(
Mostly I hear about quarantine, detection, prevention, and a bit of treatment, however, I rarely see a discussion on eratication. And perhaps I am not in the circle of information, but I rarely, if...
Thanks for continuing the journey!
I think they're both males. :D
Yep, in today's world we tend to rely on auto-pay. Most of my stuff is on auto-pay which is good and bad. Good because I'm lazy and it keeps me paid up, bad because I don't check my bills often and...
Good advice Mike. Something that people tend to not think about until there's an issue.
Yes, I just reconfirmed. I've stayed at Morel's Inn once before. See ya there!
Yup! Yup! Yup! :)
Saturday, Nov 10 is the final pond harvest. Usually kicks off around 9ish. There's a lunch around noonish. Then on Sunday people come back to pick up their koi. We also take a 15 min drive to the...
Why would the distance between the pump and sieve have anything to do with the GPH?
Every year since 2011, and been there dozens of times throughout the year. Two events I must go to each year, Purdin Harvest and CFK&GS.
Please try to attend!
Love the Purdin 'Ueno' line. I currently have a male Showa purchased in 2011, as well as a nisai Showa still at the farm. Big bodied, and lovely heavy sumi.
And to add, not all foods have the same growth/weight potential. This chart is worthless....
Worthless piece of paper. Means absolutely nothing....
Well, ditto to Mike's comments. Does not appear as pox to me. And I have nothing to offer except let it run it's course and keep an eye on it. Looks inflammed, but nothing conclusive...
Quite lovely. As you and Mike said, there is no hi the head, obviously it would be preferred if there was some, but it is what it is. I think the left pec sumi will pull in some based on the white...
I consider 'mutt's' to be simply an unrecognizable variety. All mutt's are culls, but not all culls are mutt's. Culling is simply removing unwanted koi, but there's also a point were a breeder cannot...
Thanks Mike. I have a Sanke that has very minor hikui that has not increased in a year and half. It seems to heal somewhat at times, but then shows itself again. Most people would not notice it,...
Did you try the cryotherapy treatment?
No one likes a fat koi, but many enjoy full bodied koi. There is a difference. Keep in mind the variations in male and female bodies, as well as varieties. I like male Kohaku and Showa, but like...
Browse around on here, you will find the answers you seek about bloodlines.
Sorry to hear Mike. :(
I find that learning about bloodlines is difficult as there is little discussions on the matter. Shame to, because many hobbyists don't know the roots. And if you don't know where you've been, how...
Bummer, I can see your friends points of view as well as the breeders.
I scrolled throughh the koi before reading your post. #29 was the one I stopped at and had a 20 minute coversation with myselfon it could be possible for the sumi to work around the beni. Gotta be...
