Do you mean it is a shiro matsuba? This koi is about 18".

If metallic, then it is Gin Matsuba.

If classified as an Asagi, it is a poor example particularly due to the lack of Hi. In an old Rinko magazine there was an article that referred to 'Asagi without Hi' by a particular term. I do not recall the term. If I come across it, I'll let you know.

BTW, a couple that belongs to the Gainesville (FL) koi club has (or had) a similar koi that is a very beautiful example of an Asagi in every way except the lack of Hi. People always admire it because the body lines are very good and it stands out among the colorful gosanke.

The term Mizu Asagi refers to a light blue asagi (mizu = water). The few pictures I have seen labeled Mizu show an asagi with little or no hi. If this is an asagi would there be a shading of the blue of the scales?

Is this considered a Mizu Asagi, Rob? No, red on him at all...

it cant be an asagi of any type because its a metallic koi, which puts it in the gin matsuba classification
